Dean Walcott had six years in the US Marines

Kimberly Rivera, reportedly the first U.S. female war deserter seeking asylum in Canada. She has been living in Toronto with her husband and children since 2007. Rivera served in Iraq with the American military in 2006.

Jeremy Hinzman, deserted the U.S. Army in 2004. The court refused to hear the appeals, and was rejected by Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board in 2005.
